Football’s coming home (again)

Every couple of years, I get my hopes up again.
It’s been that way since I was a kid, despite me admittedly not having a huge interest in football generally.
But supporting England has always felt different – we can all get behind the team until the inevitable happens and we add yet another couple of years to what was once 30 years of hurt in the famous song.
Well, that and I enjoy frequenting beer gardens during the summer anyway.
There’s something comforting about the familiarity of supporting England in international tournaments – it feels the same in 2024 as it did when I was a kid.
And I know everyone’s got that idyllic memory of the first international tournament they remember…
Whether it was Italia 90 and the heartbreak of Stuart Pearce’s miss, 2002 and Ronaldinho catching David Seaman cold, or the annoying buzz of Vuvuzelas as Lampard’s goal was somehow not given in 2010.
It’s comforting that as the years roll by and so much changes, so much can still stay the same – England are still very much England.
And there’s parallels when it comes to content, too.
The rise of video has taken over the internet in a way that’s changed our content consumption habits an incredible amount over the last few years.
And that means that creating content is easier and more accessible than it’s ever been – but the importance of getting it right has never been more prevalent.
It’s why I’m so excited to work on projects this summer and beyond… the opportunities are limitless.
Speak soon,
Ben (The Video Guy)
