Meaningful client video testimonials, done for you

Updated: Apr 23, 2024

Hey, Ben, the video guy here. I’ve been working on some cool stuff lately, including this video testimonial for salon software suppliers, SalonIQ. Thought you might like to see what we can do.

The client

SalonIQ is a software platform that salons of any size and shape use for, well, pretty much anything. Bookings, payments, deposits, appointments, stock control, reminders, marketing, staff holiday, performance tracking, yada yada yada – it does it all.

The brief

SalonIQ knew they had a good thing going on, but in a crowded market they needed to stand out. They’d seen our own testimonial videos and asked for our help putting their customers front and centre to make that happen. So we got to work.

The challenge

Salons are busy places. Lots of staff in and out, and the actual owners are often tied up doing someone’s hair or nails – so it can be pretty tricky to find a time that works for everyone, and to get the person you want on camera free for a chat. Likewise, finding the right light and sound without getting in the way or freaking anyone out while they’re having their hair done is a little bit of a challenge.

What we did

We wanted to get decent b-roll of every salon we visited, which meant talking to the salon’s customers about what we were doing and being super quick. In most cases, we stayed out the way and subtly took footage of the salon floor while we waited for the salon owner to finish up. Then we found somewhere quiet and light to sit down with the owner, where we could use a multi-cam set-up with a backdrop that was obviously in a salon.

The questions

We’ve done this many times, we know what to ask and what to say to draw out some fantastic responses, as you’ll see when you watch the video. Still, we always liaise with our client to make sure we’re pulling everything they want to know into the testimonial too.

The result

SalonIQ have come away from the project very happy, not just with the big video montage you can see at the top of the page, but also with separate, shorter films of each client featured.

Every time a salon owner talked about any specific service that SalonIQ provides, we also snipped off a quick short, so SalonIQ could use that video on individual pages on their site too. They’ve now got great video content for their website and plenty to put out to their prospects via their various marketing channels – and they want to do more going forward. When the final cut makes you look that good, why wouldn’t you?!

What to do if you want a video testimonial too

Video’s proving a seriously effective route for marketing these days, and a really hot channel for tracking and prospecting. I love getting

out and about with my camera, so if you’re looking for help creating something spectacular for your website and your marketing platforms, get in touch.

Thanks for watching.
