Reviews are non-negotiable in 2024

I recently got a great review after working with a client on a testimonial at a trade show.

Now, I’m not here to blow my own trumpet, tempting as it may be.

I wanted to make the point that reviews are a non-negotiable – we all use them to check out every purchasing decision from where to have a Sunday roast to working with businesses on that next big project.

In a lot of ways, it’s the modern-day word of mouth, giving you the chance to check out what other people’s experiences with them have been like.

And video testimonials are an extension of that.

They take the idea of a review and add some colour around the edges, injecting personality and ‘real life’ into the words that are spoken.

Because reviews are great, but context is just as important – being able to craft that story from a variety of clients in a comprehensive video testimonial is as powerful as it gets.

The Local Consumer Review Study 2024 found that 49% of customers trust an online review as much as a personal recommendation.

Whenever I’m helping to create a video testimonial, I’m conscious that the goal is to take the best of both of those and craft something that tells a story.

According to the Local Consumer Review Study 2024, 49% of customers trust an online review as much as a personal recommendation.

Using reviews and testimonials in your marketing material is a great way to add authenticity and bring people closer to that buying decision – the only question is who you’re going to ask to record one and how quickly you’re going to do it…

Don’t leave people’s perception of you up to chance, you’ve worked hard to cultivate the reputation you’ve got, so shout about it.

Speak soon,

Ben (The Video Guy)
